School's in for summer
Let's make the best of it

Issue date: 5/20/09 Section: Opinion
School is starting up for the first summer session, and I couldn't be more excited!
Normally I'm not this pumped about the starting of school, because let's face it, no one likes to have to worry about making it to class, doing homework and taking exams, but somehow this summer is different. You see, once I complete one little class this summer, I will be on my way to a Senior year with two 12-hour semesters; but most importantly, we are revamping The East Carolinian this summer!
My name is Andrea Robertson, and I have been the Opinion editor for the past two semesters; however, this will be my first summer as section editor, and I want to try to make it the best I can for you all!
First of all, everyone knows that the Pirate Rants are the greatest! And because of this well-known fact, I wanted to thank all of you for your hilarious contributions. Without all of your creativity and complaints, TEC would be incomplete, so please continue to be original and send me as many rants as possible. I know sometimes it may seem like I'm not picking yours (I can't tell you how many rants I've read saying that I must hate that person because I never pick his or her rant), we may have a solution to that!
Unfortunately, we can't make TEC's print edition nothing but Pirate Rants. I know, it's hard to believe that there could be anything more important in the paper, but we still have to cover news! So in order to give everyone what they desire, more rants, we will be adding more to TEC's Web site, theeastcarolinian.com!
Another important fact I want to put out there is that the Opinion section is comprised of opinions that are geared toward ECU's students. With this in mind, I am asking all of you to submit your opinions to me. I welcome volunteer writers to submit their own opinion articles to me, so I can be sure that TEC's Opinion section accurately reflects the opinions of its readers. All you have to do is send your opinion to me at opinion@theeastcarolinian.com.
I'm really looking forward to another semester as editor of the Opinion section, and I hope you are all just as excited as I am! So here's to another summer of relaxing and reading The East Carolinian by the pool, while trying to forget about the looming responsibility of summer school!
