ECU's business fraternity has plans to raise money for a cause by appealing to Greenville's lively nightlife.

Alpha Kappa Psi is holding an American Cancer Society fundraiser at the Tank nightclub titled "Just Cause" Friday, April 17. All proceeds will go to member Kim Sibbach to assist with medical costs.

Sibbach, a communications major, was diagnosed with breast cancer last fall.

"Kim is a lively and enjoyable person to be around," said Stephanie Larson, the "Just Cause" event coordinator. "We wanted to do something fun and creative based around her."

The event will begin at 9 p.m. and admission is free for all students who attend.

"It is for a great cause," Larson said. "We hope that we have a great turnout and get support."

While dancing the night away, students will also get the opportunity to engage in other activities.

"We will host a date auction and throughout the night a raffle will take place," Larson said.

Gift certificates for dinner at Outback and Olive Garden will be given to those who win at the date auction.

Students who purchase a raffle ticket have the chance to win one of the three "Bucket" packages that Alpha Kappa Psi has put together.

"We have Night-In, Night-Out, and Private-Party buckets for students to win," said Larson.

The Private-Party bucket includes a free private party at the Tank nightclub and free passes to other nightclubs in downtown.

The Tank nightclub has been hoping to put together an event like this for a long time.

"Since being open August of last year we have been wanting to do something for charity," said Tony Linder, manager of the Tank. "They came to us with the idea and it seemed like a good fit for us. I am excited and look forward to the event."
