Zary is graduating in May and marrying ECU Health Education and Promotion student Paul Keane in July.
"I am excited about getting married," said Zary. "I am looking forward to sharing my life and experiences with someone so extraordinary.
"Planning the wedding is no piece of cake because I am in Greenville and it's taking place in Charlotte!" she said. "But I have a fantastic reception site and I'm pretty excited about sharing our big day with our friends and family."
Zary's weekdays are filled with activity. Zary is currently taking 18 semester hours of classes at ECU and working two part-time jobs. When she is not attending classes at ECU she is working in the campus computer labs or in the children's department of Sheppard Memorial Library.
"I wake up every morning around 7 a.m., shower, eat and pack lunch," Zary said. "I'm in and out of classes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
"Tuesday I'm in and out of class and working in the ECU computer labs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"Tuesday and Thursday evenings I work in the children's section of Sheppard Memorial Library from 6-8 p.m.
"In the evenings I typically do homework, read and try to get some moving planning or wedding planning done," she said. "Sometimes I head over to a friend's house to watch TV, do homework and relax.
"I try to get to bed around 11 or so."
On Sundays, Zary volunteers at St. Peter's Church by serving doughnuts to the parishioners. "My family has been involved with the Sunday doughnuts for years," said Zary. "We serve free doughnuts after mass: it's a nice way to get together with people after church and socialize."
She is also the treasurer of the military support organization, Silver Wings. As treasurer Zary is responsible for collecting dues for the group. She also helped organize the Silver Wings/Red Cross blood drive that took place on Feb. 24.
Zary has participated in several ECU intramural sports since she arrived at the university.
"I'm not on any sports teams right now," said Zary. "I'm concentrating on graduating. But when I did play, my favorite was soccer: I played on a women's co-recreational team.
