Word of Mouth presents 'Pillow Talk'

Word of Mouth, a poetry organization on campus, will take to the stage on Feb. 20.
The group will be performing their work in a showcase called "Pillow Talk."
The showcase was originally planned to coincide with Valentine's Day. The group is still moving forward with the Valentine's Day theme, but plans to cover topics that cover "love" in general.
"It's about love and the other side of love," said Drea Lawfon, a business finance major and active member of Word of Mouth. "It's about the hardships, downfalls, and up rises we experience."
Word of Mouth is a new organization, originally formed last summer by Johnny Alfredo with approximately 15 members.
The organization specializes in performance poetry, or spoken word.
The group had two previous showcases last semester, "Whispers" and "Inside Voices." They were open to the public, open mic and donation based.
"There was a really good response for our first show," Lawfon said. "And our second show was packed."
Usually, poetry readings held by Word of Mouth welcome anybody who wants to read their poetry.
But the current showcase will exclusively feature members of the organization, mainly because all readings will be "top of head," meaning instead of simply reading their work, the members will actually perform their poetry for the audience.
Word of Mouth welcomes all who are interested in performance poetry.
To become an official member, students must audition with a piece of their work and perform it in front of the Word of Mouth executive board.
"Pillow Talk" can be seen on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in room 244 in Mendenhall Student Center.
