Magic, juggling and telepathy were brought to the Hendrix Theater last Thursday night for a show featuring Chris Chelko and Michael Dubois, performers that have graced the likes of "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno and over 300 colleges and universities across the country.

"The Adult Circus Variety Show" was open to all ECU students, and approximately 300 piled into Hendrix on Thursday to enjoy the show.

Chelko and Dubois have been learning magic since they were children growing up on opposite ends of the United States. After befriending each other in college at Penn State, they teamed up to develop a show that would change people's perspective on entertainment.

"The Adult Circus Variety Show" is fast paced and interactive, showcasing humorous magic, juggling, telepathy, circus and sideshow stunts.

"I really had fun and liked how the performers interacted with the crowd. I am glad that ECU sponsors shows like this for its students," said Adam Leggett, a student who attended the show.

During the show, Chelko and Dubois dazzled the crowd with their mind reading talents. Blindfolded with aluminum, Chelko was able to guess members of the audiences' information. Audience members would write down on a board their date of birth, favorite sports team, different countries or colors of clothing.

Chelko would pause for a moment to think while the audience member wrote down the information on the board. Dubois would show what was written on the board to the rest of the audience. Chelko would then tell them exactly what had been put on the board.

The performance turned out exactly how Erin Edwards, president of the student activities board, expected. The Students Activities Board brings to campus a variety of events that students within the entertainment committee can vote on.

"It was intriguing and entertaining. It is not very often that students at ECU, or the community of Greenville, get to see a performance different from a concert, so the 'Adult Circus' was definitely an event we wanted to bring the students. It was refreshingly different," said Edwards.
