Taylor Bell is an ECU student, and a survivor of lung cancer. She was diagnosed with a carcinoid tumor, and had to have her left lung removed. She commented that before her experience she didn't know that someone of her age, 22, could get lung cancer. The month of November is dedicated to lung cancer awareness.
The Public Relations Student Society Association held a speed-networking event for its members, bringing several distinguished professionals to campus. The objective of Monday night's event was to help students gain valuable experience in interacting within the professional arena as well as getting tips on how to improve their resumes, interview skills and the opportunity to network that many students would not otherwise receive.
The ECU Student Health Services center has seen some major changes in the current 2008-2009 academic year. The first modification came with the implementation of its open access and online appointment scheduling. Open access means that a student must wait until the day of to schedule most appointments.
Marcus J. Borg, a professor of religion and culture at Oregon State University, gave the next installment of the Voyages of Discovery Lecture Series titled "Christians in an Age of an Empire: Then and Now" presented by the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences on Tuesday night.
Sup Dogs will be hosting a canned food drive in efforts to support needy families in Greenville. The public can bring in any canned food or non-perishable item and receive a free Sup Dog hot dog with any food purchase. The drive will last until Dec. 20 and all collections will be donated to needy families in Pitt Co.
