Members of the Greenville City Council and SGA met on Thursday to discuss issues relating to students and the community. The meeting was held in room 337 of City Hall at 5 p.m., and dialogue between the groups lasted until around 6 p.m. During the span of an hour, city council members and SGA representatives were able to address a number of issues.
The ECU Student Government Association held its first ever, "House of Organizations," meeting Jan. 28, in which the representatives of each student organization were presented with a new order of business with various topics of discussion. Ambassadors of Mendenhall Student Center (MSC) were recruited at the SGA meeting to speak to other students about the upcoming renovation of MSC, beginning in May 2008.
Thursday evening, with a high temperature of only 47 degrees for the entire day, students from around Greenville made their way to the Campus Recreation and Wellness center (CRW). The event that students made their way through the cold to participate in was the Polar Bear Plunge, a winter tradition that has been around for as long as CRW has been open.
ECU graduating minority medical students were recognized at the 24th annual Dr. Andrew A. Best Senior Recognition Banquet. The banquet was held at the Hilton on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. Dr. Julius Q. Mallette, assistant vice chancellor for regional health services outreach at ECU, spoke at the event.
