The Tulsa football team will never win any style contests, but the Golden Hurricane does win. Tulsa forced three turnovers and pulled away in the second half for an ugly 31-10 win over ECU Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The Golden Hurricane defense, ranked number one in Conference USA coming in, shut down the ECU offense, limiting the Pirates to 241 yards of total offense.
ECU Keys 1. Run the ball: The Pirates need to build on what they did last week with the ground attack. Tulsa's defense is good, but its secondary is excellent. Establishing the run could soften up that defensive backfield for some big plays down the field.
The ECU intramural department held their annual flag football championships Wednesday at the Blount Complex. The season started with 105 teams, and through a four game regular season and post-season playoffs, was narrowed down to six champions. Pain and Torture kept it close in the Co-Rec game championship against Ridonkulous.

When Steve Kragthorpe was named the head football coach at Tulsa in December of 2002, he inherited a football program that had just two wins in the previous two years combined. Three years later, Kragthorpe led the Golden Hurricane to a Conference USA championship and a victory in the Liberty Bowl.
