Everyone walking into the Chapel Hill Public Library passes by part of a communitywide art exhibition.

Carrboro artist Mike Roig's steel ring creation "Cloud Lasso," currently residing outside the building, is part of this year's Sculpture Visions display, a program of the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission.

Infused with the success of both its main-stage and PRC2 series and armed with a new face in its administration, PlayMakers Repertory Company is entering the 2008-09 season with fresh ideas and a slate of fresh performances.

Last year UNC was one of eight U.S. universities to receive a grant designed to bring provocative discussion dealing with a topic of social significance - the death penalty, in UNC's case - to campuses across the nation.

Because of high participation, UNC performance groups plan to collaborate on another project this year despite the expiration of the external funding, the Creative Campus Innovations Grant from the Association of Performing Arts Presenters.
